Cookie policy

What we store, why, and how to take back control

This policy explains which cookies and trackers are used on the CLOE platform, for what purposes, for how long, and how you can accept, refuse or change your choice at any time.

It complements our Privacy Policy, which describes more broadly how your personal data is processed. It is drawn up in accordance with article 82 of the French Data Protection Act, the GDPR, and the CNIL's guidelines and recommendation on cookies and other trackers.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device (computer, tablet, phone) when you visit a website. It lets whoever issued it recognise that device on later visits.

The word "cookie" is used here in a broad sense: it also covers other tracking technologies such as local storage (localStorage, sessionStorage), tracking pixels, and identifiers embedded in third-party content.

Only cookies strictly necessary to run the site are stored without your agreement. Everything else waits for your consent.

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential to how the platform works. Without them you could not sign in, browse securely, or keep your display language. They are exempt from consent under article 82 of the French Data Protection Act.

They cover in particular:

  • your authentication session and its expiry date;
  • routing you to the pages matching your profile (student, owner, administrator);
  • the site's display language;
  • remembering your cookie choice;
  • payment fraud prevention, handled by our provider Stripe.

You can block them through your browser settings, but some or all of the site will then stop working.

Audience measurement

These cookies let us understand how the site is used: pages viewed, navigation paths, errors encountered, page performance. We use them solely to improve the service.

We use Google Analytics 4. This tool does not meet the strict exemption conditions set by the CNIL, in particular because it does not produce anonymous statistics for our sole account. It is therefore only loaded after your explicit consent.

If you refuse this purpose, no request is sent to Google and no measurement cookie is stored. Your browsing is unaffected.

Advertising and campaign measurement

These cookies let us assess how our communication campaigns perform and, where relevant, show you meaningful ads on other websites.

They are delivered through Google Ads and our Google Tag Manager containers. They are only stored with your agreement.

Refusing has no effect on your access to the platform's services: you will simply see less relevant advertising elsewhere on the web.

Social network content

Some pages embed posts from LinkedIn and Instagram. That content is loaded from those platforms' servers, which then set their own cookies and may collect your IP address.

Until you accept this purpose, the content is not loaded: a panel offers to enable it manually, and no data reaches those platforms in the meantime.

These cookies fall under LinkedIn's and Meta's responsibility. We encourage you to read their own privacy policies.

Retention periods

In line with the CNIL's recommendations:

  • your cookie choice is kept for 6 months; after that the banner is shown again;
  • the lifetime of the trackers stored does not exceed 13 months and is not renewed automatically;
  • the information collected through those trackers is kept for a maximum of 25 months.

We also keep proof of your consent (date, banner version, purposes accepted, truncated and pseudonymised IP address) for 3 years, so that we can demonstrate it if audited. This retention rests on our legal obligation to demonstrate that consent was collected.

Changing or withdrawing your consent

Withdrawing your consent is as easy as giving it. At any time you can:

  • click "Manage cookies" in the footer, present on every page of the site;
  • use the button at the top of this page;
  • click the cookie settings icon shown at the bottom left of the screen.

When you withdraw a permission you previously granted, we delete the corresponding cookies still reachable from your browser and reload the page so the relevant scripts stop immediately.

Refusing, in whole or in part, does not restrict your access to the platform's services.

Browser settings

Independently of our own controls, you can configure your browser to accept, refuse or delete cookies. The procedure varies by browser and is described in its help menu.

Be aware that blocking all cookies at browser level also prevents strictly necessary cookies from being stored, which makes signing in to your account impossible.

Note that browser settings alone do not amount to a valid expression of consent under the regulation.
